Tiddim Road triumph

- Southern Sporting Union go down by 2-3 goals

Imphal, March 30: Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union snatched a 3-2 victory against Southern Sporting Union today in the first Dr. L. Bhagyachandra Memorial Invitation Football Tournament played at THAU Ground.

Southern Sporting and Tiddim Road were at 2-2 when Southern player Arjun conceded an own goal during injury time to give away the match to Tiddim.

The match saw Tiddim Road take an early lead with S. Herojit making a long throw in with Keneth Chiru connecting his header to the goal in the second minute. T. Dhiren consolidated for Tiddim in the 14th minute hammering a volley after anticipating a throw from S. Herojit.

Southern Sporting were quick to level the scores with Imran Khan converting a penalty in the 16th minute. Minutes later L. Dewan netted the equaliser in the 18th minute after collecting a pass from Sahidur Rehman to level scores 2-2.

Though the second half was uneventful, during injury time S. Herojit made a long throw at the goalmouth where Southern player Arjun Singh, while trying to clear the ball, sliced home an own goal to concede defeat. Tiddim went home richer by Rs 50,000 while Southern collected Rs 30,000 along with trophies.

Tiddim player S. Herojit was named Man of the Match while L.Gogocha of Southern Sporting Union was the highest scorer with four goals.

Womenís soccer: Manipur Police Sports Club beat LWYC by 25-11 goals in the seventh Pureilomba Womenís State Level Handball Tournament 2014 played at Lilong Chajing, Imphal West.

T20 cricket: Cyclone Thangmeiband bagged the championís title defeating Champ Khagempalli by 19 runs in the second T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal, Imphal West. Cyclone batsman Thoithoi was Man of the Match.
