‘Secular’ Lalu fires sin salvo at Modi

The RJD chief, Lalu Prasad, on Sunday continued his aggressive posture against the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.

Narendra Modi apna paap dhone Kashi gaya hain, lekin woh wahan bhi nahi dhul payega (Narendra Modi has gone to Kashi to wash off his sins, but he cannot get rid of them even there),” Lalu said, campaigning for the RJD’s Sheohar candidate, Anwarul Haque.

Lalu garlanded Haque after taking permission from the RJD supporters present at his public meeting at Madhuban, once a stronghold of the party.

Lalu claimed that the members of the poor and weaker sections of the society, who had once dissociated themselves from the RJD for a few years, were returning to the party fold.

Highlighting his secular credentials, the RJD chief said: “Lalu arrested L.K. Advani during his bid to destabilise the nation’s harmony in 1992. I shall stop Modi also from ascending to the throne of Delhi in 2014.”

While seeking support for the RJD candidate from the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat, Lalu said: “Yeah chunao nahi, desh ke liye badi chunauti hai (This is not an election, it is a big challenge for the nation).” He said in case of any minor error, this country would disintegrate.

Late Sita Ram Singh of the RJD was elected five times from Madhuban under the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat.

Situated on the border of the Sheohar constituency, it is considered a citadel of Maoists.

The rebels had set several government buildings in the area on fire in 1995.
