Quintyne stars in Windies win

Sylhet: A boisterous crowd cheered every move of the Bangladesh Women’s team on their World Twenty20 debut at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Wednesday, but the West Indies quietened them at the end by notching up a 36-run win.

After opting to bat, West Indies were bowled out for 115 off the last over to give the local fans plenty of hope. However, there was a lingering feeling that the home team conceded 20 runs too many.

While Bangladesh’s bowling unit kept things simple, the batters tangled themselves in knots as they were bowled out for 79 in 17.3 overs. Shaquana Quintyne took three for five. Bangladesh’s inexperience proved to be the difference between the two sides.
