Titabar get walkover

Hailakandi, March 17: Titabar today got a walkover against Bilasipara in the second two-day match of Hailakandi zone’s J.K. Baruah Trophy inter-district under-19 cricket championship at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium here. Bilasipara did not turn up for the match.

On Saturday, Karimganj defeated Lakhipur in the first fixture of the zone’s match by 131 runs.

Resuming the second innings at overnight 105 for two on the second day on Saturday, Karimganj were all out for 248 in 70.1 overs just before lunch.

Ankur Dutta Choudhury topscored with 71 runs, while teammates Ahmed Shakir and Nabarun Das contributed 34 and 21 runs respectively.

Lakhipur’s Pritam Paul, Raja Srivastava and Prakash Goala picked up three wickets each, giving away 53, 68 and 61 runs respectively.

Lakhipur’s opener Pappu Saha was out with only 18 on the board.

It triggered a collapse that left the side tottering at 34 for four at one stage. Two middle order batsmen — Dilal Uddin (12) and Imran Hussain (28) — tried to consolidate the position but could not do much as the side was bundled out for 151 in 31.4 overs.

Syed Hussain bagged four for 44 runs while Bijoy Deb claimed two for 25.

Football camp: A 10-day under-15 residential football coaching camp, organised by Silchar Football Academy, ended at the academy ground in Silchar on Saturday.
