Minor murderers in police net

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested six men involved in the abduction, gangrape and murder of a minor hailing from the Phulwarisharif area five days back.

Two among them pleaded before Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj. “Galti ho gaya sir. Yeh phasaa diya humko sir (I have made a mistake, sir. The others have framed me, sir),” said accused Mohammed Kamaal Khan alias Mohammed Teni.

The girl, a resident of Madina Gali area had got out of her house around 8pm on March 8, when Teni and five others, all middle-aged men, picked her up. She was taken to an under-construction building around 500m from her locality where the six took turns to rape the girl for hours.

“All the six accused are residents of the Phulwarisharif area. These men do odd jobs and mostly sit anywhere they want to and are addicted to marijuana, smack and others. They live close to the girl’s home and had seen her at the playground many a times. On the evening of March 8, the girl was playing near her house when the men, under the influence of drugs, set their eyes on her. She was kidnapped but no one in the locality came to know about it, as it was dark. The men took her to an under construction building. She was brutalised and bitten on her cheeks during the act causing severe injuries. The flesh on her cheeks was literally ripped off. The post-mortem report of the victim has confirmed rape. Their motive was to kill the girl so that she would not be able to identify them. Her face bore severe injuries, suggesting they battered her face with some heavy object. There were injuries all over her body and she was badly beaten up as well, it seems. They then dumped her body in the under-construction septic tank of the building and fled. The whole act was brutal and the police would ensure that they go through a speedy trial,” Maharaaj said.

The girl’s family had searched for her the whole night on March 8 but found her battered body the next morning. The incident had triggered mob fury and residents had also clashed with the cops. The other five involved in the incident have been identified as Mohammed Parvez, Mohammed Shazaad Hussain, Mohammed Guddu, Mohammed Pintu and Mohammed Pappu. All of them are aged between 25 and 34 years. “The police had started investigations immediately and we the took help of forensic experts. We managed to arrest them. During interrogation, all of them admitted to their involvement in the act. With the help of the forensic report and other scientific investigations, the police will make sure there is enough evidence against them. We would ensure they get the strictest punishment possible,” the senior officer added.

Residents of the area had also laid siege to the Phulwarisharif police station and clashed with the cops after the semi-nude body of the minor was recovered.

According to the victim's grandfather, the girl’s family members had reported the matter at Phulwarisharif police station soon after the incident (around 8.30pm) but the station house officer (SHO), Munilal, didn’t bother to visit the spot. “We disclosed the names of the suspects to police. They sought the photograph of the girl but didn’t initiate action against the suspects, who were residents of the area,” the victim’s grandfather had alleged.
