Ankurjyoti beat Favourites

Guwahati, March 6: Ankurjyoti Club thrashed debutantes Favourite Club by eight wickets in their match of the Bhupen Chandra Mahanta GSA A Division Cricket League at Nehru Stadium here today.

With this loss, Favourite Club, who got promoted to the top tier last season, have suffered two consecutive defeats so far.

Batting first, Favourite Club batsmen were bundled out for 69 runs in 24.2 overs. Arijit Barooah was the only notable contributor with 34 runs off 51 balls while Binoy Rout was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets in his kitty for five runs in seven overs. D. Riyan Parag bagged one wicket going for nine runs in seven overs. Chasing a meagre total, Ankurjyoti boys eased past the target losing two wickets in 13 overs. Parag topscored with an unbeaten 36 runs off 48 balls while Raju Kalita chipped in with 12 runs off six deliveries. Dayanand Sarma picked up one wicket going for 12 runs in two overs.

Navarang Club will play City Cricket Club tomorrow.
