Section 144 in Kamrup

Borjhar, March 3: The Kamrup district administration today imposed restrictions on movement of people under Section 144 CrPC at several places in the district following tension that prevailed over the killing of a youth yesterday.

Section 144 was promulgated at Koniha Chowk, Pucharuachowk, Kendukona Tiniali and Kartahat.

Sources told this correspondent that the death of Putul Ali after an alleged physical assault triggered massive public protests in Kendukona. Putul and Idar Ali were beaten up by a group of people suspecting them to be thieves.

Injured Putul later died of his injuries.

Deputy commissioner J. Balaji said a magisterial inquiry has been ordered. Police have arrested four persons in connection with the incident.
