Royals trounce Green Valley

Guwahati, Feb. 25: Royal Wahingdoh Football Club, Shillong, trounced hosts Green Valley Sports Club 6-1 in their zonal round match of the Under-19 I-League at Nehru Stadium here today.

Green Valley took lead in the third minute. Defender Biswa Dowariís strike saw Royal Wahingdoh custodian Kenio Lynukhoi managing to grab the ball but the latter couldnít control his foot from stepping beyond the goalline.

Royal Wahingdoh didnít take much long to score the equaliser as Moirangthem Loken Meiteiís free kick from around 25 yards provided Rohlu Puia with the perfect opportunity to score in the ninth minute.

Loken Meiteiís pass from the right flank to Bibek Bhutia inside the box witnessed the latter leaving the Green Valley custodian Mulya Rabha with no reply in the 33rd minute.

Loken Meitei scored through a header in the 50th minute.

Meitei ensured his brace receiving a pass from Eijinmut Lyngdoh in the 55th minute.

Substitute T. Premchand Singh capitalised on a defence lapse to make it 5-1 in the 81st minute.

The Shillong outfit continued their frequent inroads that yielded in an 89th-minute corner, which was well elevated for substitute H. Noaba Meitei to flick it into the net.
