Eastern Sporting triumph

Imphal, Feb. 20: Eastern Sporting Union spinners Sivananda Singh and Shanker Singh wreaked havoc, claiming four wickets each, to defeat Western Cricket Association in the 1st MCA Plate Cricket at Luwangpokpa cricket stadium today.

Western batsman reeled under pressure from the twin spin attacks.

The team was all out for 82 runs from 30 overs.

Eastern bowlers Surjit and Rajiv got a wicket each.

Eastern Sporting Union reached the target, losing four wickets from 26 overs, with Sivananda making 26 runs while Shankar got 18 runs and Roshan chipped in with 17 runs.

Western bowler Boy got three wickets and Ranjan Singh scalped one wicket.

Veteran T20: Cyclone Thangmeiband registered an eight-wicket victory over Uripok Cricket Club in the 2nd T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal ground today.

Women’s futsal: SAI RC held NIVSO to a 5-5 goal in the IWDFA 1stWomen’s Open Futsal 2014 at YLL Ground, Pishumthong today.

Lovely Goola scored two goals while Ph. Ichal, A. Tombi and Th. Babysana fetched a goal each for SAI RC.

For NIVSO, P. Pinky Chanu scored three goals while Kiranbala Chanu got two goals.

In another match, Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal beat Eastern Sporting Union by 8-7 goals.

S. Rinaroy scored three goals while Ph. Bina fetched two goals, Ph. Basanti, S. Meera and Ch. Binomala chipped in with a goal each for YWC.
