Karthik likely to lead Delhi

Bangalore: Dinesh Karthik, bought by the Delhi DareDevils for a staggering Rs 12.5 crore, is likely to lead the franchise in IPL VII.

“Karthik looks to be the best bet, but there’s nothing official as yet,” a well-placed source told The Telegraph on Wednesday evening.

Talk to the ’keeper-batsman and he’s both “disappointed” and “delighted” at the turn of events.

Speaking to this Reporter at the ITC Gardenia, Karthik said: “I’m disappointed that the Mumbai Indians didn’t retain or buy me, but they obviously had a strategy...

“At the same time, I’m delighted that I’ve been bought by the DareDevils and I’ll again be working with (coach) Gary Kirsten.”

Karthik was referring to Kirsten’s India days.

As for going for Rs 12.5 crore, Karthik quipped: “Oh, I’m thrilled... Absolutely.”
