Jayanta wins double crown

Hailakandi, Feb. 11: Jayanta Madhav Saikia won double crowns in the Barak Valley prize-money open badminton championship of Morning Club of Silchar that concluded at the DSA indoor stadium last night. He won both the menís singles and doubles titles, defeating Jagajjyoti Rajkumar 21-12, 21-10 for the singles title. In the doubles final, he partnered Joydeep Paul to defeat Jagajjyoti Rajkumar and Rajdeep Chanda 21-14, 21-18.

In the under-16 doubles, Aslam Faridi and Hritabrata Paul defeated Pratik Choudhury and Suruj Limbo 21-18, 21-17.

Media cricket: The second edition of the media cricket festival of Barak Upatyaka Krira Sambadik Santha will commence at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar tomorrow and will continue till February 16.

Assam Open: Raj Sekhar Das and Sangram Chetia of Nagaon defeated Ujjal Dutta and Rishavjyoti Barua of Guwahati 1421, 2114, 2114 to clinch the menís doubles title in the second edition of the Bidya Medhi Assam Open Doubles Badminton Championship at Gopinath Bordaloi indoor stadium here on Sunday evening.
