Promising colts train in Lajong

Guwahati, Feb. 7: Four promising youngsters from across the Northeast had a weeklong date with their counterparts from Shillong Lajong FC academy last week.

As a part of the I-League club’s youth development programme, five boys — one each from Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland — adjudged the best from their respective state teams, were picked up from the Aircel five-a-side campus football held in May 2013, and were invited to train at the club facility in Shillong from January 27 to February 1.

The selected players are Haobijam Dayananda Singh from Manipur, Zosangliana Khiangte from Mizoram, Uttam Kumar Das from Assam and Ynpynkupbor Nongbsap from Meghalaya. The player from Nagaland could not make it to the camp.

The talented youngsters made full use of the opportunity to train with the players from the club which is currently placed fourth in the Airtel I-League table.

Shillong Lajong hosted the boys and provided them insight to the game which helped the youngsters gain knowledge including exposure and confidence.
