Maneater’s ninth victim

Lucknow, Feb. 7: A tigress believed to have strayed from Jim Corbett Park is suspected to have preyed on its ninth victim last night, foxing the forest department which had issued a shoot-at-sight order against it.

A forest officer in Bijnor, Deepak Upadhya, confirmed the latest victim was a 70-year-old farmer identified as Lal Singh. The body was found at Godhaghat in Bijnor district, some 66km from Corbett Park.

Lal Singh had been missing since last night.

The shoot-at-sight order against the tigress was issued this January after it was suspected to have killed five persons in Moradabad, Bijnor and Amroha districts.
