UALA militants die

Tura, Feb. 2: Two United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) cadres, who were beaten up by a mob yesterday, succumbed to their injuries at a hospital here.

The duo, Sanjoy Ch. Sangma and Bijoy Ch. Sangma, were beaten up by a mob at Darenggre, nearly 5km from Tura, around 5pm yesterday.

The militants had to face public ire when they came to extort money from Isak N. Marak. Sanjoy died yesterday at 10pm, whereas Bijoy died today at 4pm.

The local residents had handed them over to the police after beating up the duo.

They were admitted to Tura civil hospital.

Police sources have confirmed that the duo were originally from Bangladesh and had been very active in the coal belt in unleashing terror, including kidnapping and extortion.
