Awadh on a platter

- Gastronomic delight on cards this month

A mouth-watering fare from the land of nawabs will welcome foodies in the city in February.

From Kakori kebabs to dum pukht biryani and delicious phirnis, food connoisseurs would be spoilt for choice for most of next month. Hotel Gargee Grand will start the 16-day Jashn-E-Awadh Food Festival from Saturday.

Employees at the hotel promise foodies a gastronomic delight with an authentic feel of Lucknow, the land of the nawabs and regal food. While replicating the true-to-form Lucknowi cuisine, the hotel has also ensured it is a feast for the eyes. A perfect rural atmosphere has been created.

The food and beverage manager of the hotel, Shankar Jha, said: “We have decorated the interiors of the restaurant according to the mood of the festival. We will also serve meetha paan and mouth fresheners after the meal.”

Jha added: “The region of Awadh is known for its hospitality, so we have focused on service at the festival. To maintain the authentic taste, we have appointed a team of chefs from Lucknow.”

On the platter would be appetising starters like tunde kebab and Kakori kebab. The main course would comprise dum pukht biryani, mutton mumtaaz, chicken murg musallam and dum tawa along with a variety of breads such as shirmal roti and dehati roti. Those with a sweet tooth can happily end the royal culinary trip with phirni and shahi tukda among other desserts.
