KLO militant

Jan. 22: A KLO militant who was arrested by Assam police from Dhubri district earlier this month was brought to Cooch Behar yesterday on transit remand.

Police sources said Indrajit Roy, also known as Dabang, was trained in Bangladesh in the sixth batch.

The 25-year-old was in charge of conducting operations in Dhubri and Cooch Behar. Indrajit was close to Lal Singh Deka, accused of planting an explosive in Alipurduar on August 29, 2013. A CID bomb squad member was killed while defusing the explosive.

Indrajit was involved in a firing at Mansai in Cooch Behar in May 2013 in which one person was injured. He was also involved in a robbery at a Tufangunj last year and wanted in connection with an abduction attempt at Chaporer Par near Alipurduar two years ago.

The Alipurduar police would submit a prayer to produce Indrajit in court and seek police remand.
