Shahid Minar on top

Guwahati, Jan. 22: Shahid Minar Cricket Club, Calcutta registered a convincing 46-run victory over Ankurjyoti Club in their match of the 12th Jugal Kishore Newatia Bud Challenge Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

The Calcutta side rode on a fine all-round performance by Subhash Kumar, which also earned him the Man of the Match title.

Shahid Minar batsmen put up a competitive total of 205 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 40 overs. Binayak Sukla topscored with 50 runs off 49 balls while Subhash Kumar contributed 47 runs off 60 deliveries. Supriyo Chakraborty was another notable contributor, with 39 runs off 63 balls. Raju Kalita was the pick of the bowlers (four wickets for 59 in 10 overs).

In reply, Ankurjyoti boys could only manage 159 runs before being bundled out in 36 overs. Prahlad Gayan scored 36 runs off 52 balls while Raju Kalita was the other notable contributor with 26 runs off 28 deliveries. Subhash Kumar and Md Laque Ahmed scalped three wickets each. Supriyo Chakrobarty picked up two wickets conceding 32 runs in six overs. Shahid Minar Cricket Club play Navajyoti Club tomorrow.
