IPS officer transferred

Calcutta, Jan. 20: Sivaji Ghosh, who was heading the CID as its additional director-general, was today transferred as the ADG of the police housing department.

Ramphal Pawar, who was in charge of the newly set up anti-corruption unit, will replace Ghosh in the CID. Rakesh Gupta has replaced Pawar in the anti-corruption wing.

Ghosh, whose agency is probing several complaints of corruption against Left leaders, could not be reached for comment.

The senior IPS officer had earlier served in Calcutta police as a special commissioner. Ghosh was once known to be close to chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

ADG traffic Arun Gupta has been made additional director-general (headquarters), a new post. Kundan Lal Tamta has been posted as ADG (traffic).
