Ulfa executes ‘traitor’

Guwahati, Jan. 15: The Ulfa (Independent) today claimed that its assistant finance secretary and self-styled captain Partha Asom had been executed for allegedly being involved in anti-organisational activities.

In an emailed statement, the outfit claimed that Partha Asom was working as a police informer and had passed on some vital information to security forces, leading to seizure of the outfit’s cache of arms and ammunition.

Partha Asom, who had two aliases — Partha Pratim Gogoi and Pramod Gogoi — was from Sivasagar district.

Ulfa (Independent) alleged that he had also misappropriated huge amounts of funds and had hatched a conspiracy with security forces to kill some cadres of the outfit and also to force some others to surrender along with him on January 26.

The statement claimed that he was handed the death sentence today.
