Nabanna restrictions

Calcutta, Jan. 15: Calcutta police have laid down a standard operating procedure for journalists visiting Nabanna, restricting their movement in the 14-storey state secretariat.

The SOP says journalists will be frisked by security personnel at the entrance and will have to wait at the press corner on the first floor until he or she gets the “competent authority’s” permission to go to any other part of Nabanna.

The SOP adds that moving around Nabanna without a visitor’s photo-entry slip or a proper approval will be considered as breach of security.

Senior officials could not recall such restrictions on the movement of journalists at the state secretariat.
