Raj sermon for Modi

Mumbai, Jan. 9: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, who once sang paeans of Narendra Modi’s model of development, today said Modi should have resigned as Gujarat chief minister the day he was named the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.

The comment is a blow to the hopes of the BJP to include the MNS in a four-party grand alliance ahead of this year’s polls.

“I respect Modi’s work in Gujarat, and I have spoken about it in the past. But I feel the day he was declared the prime ministerial candidate of the NDA, he should have resigned as Gujarat chief minister. A Prime Minister should be of a nation, not one state. All states should be equal for him. He should think about it,” the MNS chief said in Nashik.
