Hockey Union drub Jiribam

Imphal, Jan. 5: Hockey Union thrashed All-Jiribam Sports Association by 5-0 goals in the Manipur Hockey Under-14 Boys State-Level Hockey Tournament at the hockey practice field, Khuman Lampak, today.

W. Neerajkumar struck four goals for Hockey Union, including two penalty corner conversions.

A. Suresh Sharma scored one goal for the victory today.

In tomorrow’s matches, Posterior Hockey Academy, Manipur, will take on HAYT Singjamei in the first match, while South Eastern Youth Organisation will face CDO Charangpat in the second match.

Heingang legislator N. Biren Singh inaugurated the tournament, along with Manipur Hockey president and Olympian Ksh. Thoiba Singh.

Tennis medal: Priyana Kalita of Assam bagged a bronze medal in the under-17 girls’ singles in the 59th National School Games tennis tournament that concluded in Pune today. She defeated Nikita Pinto of Karnataka 2-0.

Media cricket meet: A group of journalists is organising a Media T–20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here from January 20 to February 1, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati.

Two matches a day will be played in the prize-money tournament. The matches will be played according to ICC rules and regulations.

Interested media houses have been asked to confirm their participation before January 10.

The organisers have also planned to invite an international player on the day of the final while 10 former and current Ranji players will be felicitated on the occasion.
