What is it: A scholarship for students belonging to the economically weaker sections of society for pursuing higher studies.

Who can apply: Students who have passed Class XII or its equivalent in 2012-13 and interested in pursuing higher studies in the field of medicine, engineering / graduation in any discipline / diploma course in any field or other equivalent courses. The annual income of the parents of the applicants should not exceed Rs 1,00,000 per annum.

What is it: A scholarship to support overseas students who are funding their studies at the University of Essex. The scholarship is meant for students seeking to join the university in October 2013.

Who can apply: Self-funded students who have been awarded a first degree with a grade equivalent to a UK first class honours bachelor's degree.

What is it: A scholarship for students interested in pursuing an online bachelor's degree in computer science or business administration. University of the People is a tuition-free university and does not charge students for educational instruction, course materials or enrollment.

What is it: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, is inviting applications for the award of Raman Research Fellowships 2014-2015. The fellowships are granted to CSIR researchers for carrying out research in emerging / high priority areas. Total two fellowships are available for four to twelve months.

Who can apply: Regular scientists of CSIR having postgraduate degree or PhD in engineering. The applicants should not be more than 45 years of age as on November 1, 2013.

What is it: The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) is offering an overseas award for associateship. The award is available for young scientists working in any of the northeastern states and engaged in conducting research or training in different areas of biotechnology at overseas research laboratories.

Who can apply: Applicants should hold a PhD in the areas of life sciences, including biotechnology or MD in medicine / MPharm / MVSc / MTech with three years' research experience.
