Rebel held at Argora hideout

A PLFI rebel was held with arms from an Argora locality, barely a kilometre from Team India skipper M.S. Dhoni’s Harmu residence, in Ranchi in the early hours of Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, Ranchi police picked up Manoj Munda (22) from the house of one Dashrath Sahu at Argora Basti. Munda, in the guise of a labourer, had taken a room on rent along with an aide. A 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition were recovered from him. His associate managed to flee.

“We had specific information that two rebels were staying at Argora. The other one, Upendra Nag, escaped,” city SP Rajeev Ranjan Singh said.

In another incident, a chowkidar of Raj Mahal police station, Sohan Hazari, managed to enter Jharkhand High Court with a knife and iron knuckles. Metal detectors failed to trace the weapons. He was, however, caught during a routine check of visitors.

Police said Hazari entered the premises with weapons by mistake.
