Marandi back as JVM boss

Hazaribagh, May 5: Babulal Marandi was today named as the JVM’s chief ministerial candidate after being re-elected as the party’s president.

The two-day JVM conference, which saw the participation of more than 15,000 party workers from across Jharkhand, ended with the party’s decision to go it alone in the Assembly polls.

Sources said the JVM leadership decided to contest the election alone, keeping equal distance from the Congress and BJP as they consider both as “equally corrupted”.

The leadership told the workers that the BJP, JMM and Congress were only eager to grab power by hook or by crook. They decried that earlier the BJP and JMM plundered the state’s resources through an unholy alliance and now the Congress was running a proxy government by means of President’s Rule.
