I was very happy to see the article “Four theft attempts in CA Block in a fortnight”, published on March 8. A theft attempt took place in my house at BB 116. Burglars attacked my house on March 6 around 2 am. They tried to break open the lock but could not manage. Then they opened the window of my grandson’s room and one of them thrust his hand inside, over the 10-year-old boy sleeping there. Thankfully our domestic helps woke up and they ran away .
In Labony Estate, G Block, a daring burglary took place some days ago. Four young men scaled the upper floor by climbing the waterpipe, broke the front door, unlocked the almirahs and then escaped with the booty.
I was amazed to read that the resident of CA 45, in whose house a break-in took place, was asked by the police why he hadn’t installed CCTV for security. He still lodged an FIR but as to whether his effort will bear fruit, your guess is as good as mine.
Civic chief Krishna Chakraborty keeps saying that there is no lack of initiative on the administration’s part to reduce crime but the situation is worsening every day.

Apropos the article “Our best food forward”, published on February 22, I would like to share with readers my favourite dish in the township — the Moghlai Paratha served at Montu’s. The outlet is near Labony Estate, opposite Tank 1, and is a must-visit for my family almost every week. They are spicy and filling and cost Rs 50 a piece. The Egg Moghlai Paratha is my father’s favourite.
Montu’s also makes good momos and Chilli Chicken but we love the Moghlai Parathas the most. They are yummy and are available between 4pm and 6pm — just in time for our afternoon repast.
