Patientís kin assaulted, robbed at MGM

Two unidentified miscreants barged into the corridor of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College and Hospitalís gynaecology department in Sakchi on Tuesday afternoon and snatched money and valuables from a patientís relative who was standing outside the ward.

The duo, who were in their early twenties, first accosted Santosh Singh (25) and asked him whether he had attacked someone with a razor. When Singh denied doing any such thing and said he was in the hospital to attend to his wife who was undergoing treatment in the gynaecology ward, they forced him to the ground floor from where they dragged him to an alley behind the medical ward, where he was assaulted.

After assaulting Singh, the two attackers took away his cellphone, watch and wallet containing Rs 200.

After his tormentors fled, Singh informed security guards deployed near the main gate of the hospital about the incident.

The security guards searched for the miscreants but could not locate them. They then told Singh to approach the Sakchi police, which he did.

The incident took place around 3.30pm and a complaint was lodged at 5pm.

Singh, hailing from Kudujora village in Bodam block, had come to the hospital to attend to his wife who was suffering from post-delivery complications. His wife was admitted on Sunday.

ďI repeatedly pleaded before the two that I am here only for my wife and I am not aware of anything else. But still they snatched my belongings,Ē said Singh.

Officer-in-charge of Sakchi police station Bijay Kumar said a case has been registered against two unknown persons.
