The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, will hold the second edition of TEDx, an independently organised TED event on January 19. TED is a non-profit organisation that brings together leading people from technology, entertainment and design.
After a successful debut in 2011, TEDxIITKharagpur 2013 is themed ‘The Unturned Pages’ and promises exciting talks on unexplored fields. The list of speakers this year includes Satyajit Bhatkal (director of Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate), Shubhranshu Choudhary (founder of CGNet Swara), Captain (honorary) Bana Singh (Param Vir Chakra awardee), Sugata Mitra (initiator of the hole in the wall experiment) and Kailash Satyarthi (the founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan).
According to the organisers, “If you have ever wanted to explore beyond the normal, this is the place to be”. Being passionate believers in the power of ideas, TED’s mission is simple — to spread ideas. TED conferences have previously hosted speakers like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Pranav Mistry, Nandan Nilekani and other Nobel Prize winners. The event will be held at the Kalidas Auditorium on the IIT Kharagpur campus from 3pm to 8pm. Registration for attendees has begun.
