Power agreement today

Patna, Jan. 16: Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd will sign an MoU with SJVN Ltd and Bihar Power Infrastructure Company (BPIC) tomorrow for setting up a 1,320MW coal-based power plant at Chausa in Buxar.

The project developed by BPIC — a joint venture of the Bihar government, the power holding company and IL&FS — would be executed by SJVN in the next five years.

SJVN, formerly Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, is a joint venture of the central government & the government of Himachal Pradesh.

“BPIC has developed the project under which it has made the site selection at Chausa (Buxar) for setting up 2x660MW power plants. It has almost completed the land acquisition required for the project. BPIC has got clearances for water availability, environment impact assessment. After signing the MoU, the project would be handed over to SJVN for implementation,” said Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd managing director Lalan Prasad.
