Riyan fashions Guwahati win

Guwahati, Jan. 15: D. Riyan Parag cracked an unbeaten century to help Guwahati storm into the final of the Umananda Bora Trophy inter-district (under-13) cricket tournament defeating Dibrugarh by 250 runs in the first semi-final at Barsapara Stadium here today.

Opting to bat, the home side piled up 293 for three in the stipulated 40 overs. The visitors were skittled out for a paltry total of 43 runs in 24.1 overs.

Skipper Riyan Parag smashed the Dibrugarh bowlers across the greens to remain unbeaten on 157. His knock of 140 balls comprised 18 hits to the ropes and two sixes.

Besides, Abhishek Yadav scored a run-a-ball 43 (4x4) and Joy Singh contributed 27 (4x4). Kunal Sarma of Dibrugarh claimed two wickets for 45 runs and Somnath Sarma picked up one for 36.

For Dibrugarh, Sarang Raj Kashyap (12, 4x2) was the only batsman to score in double figures.

Off- spinner Ivan Deka of Guwahati scalped four wickets for six runs and Anup Bhujel picked up two for six.

Kokrajhar will play Bongaigaon in the last quarter-final at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.
