Far away from sets, Manoj to don chef’s cap at home

- Popular Bhojpuri actor to participate in reality show, cook rice, dal and mashed potatoes for participants

Bhojpuri actor and singer Manoj Tiwari will try his hand at cooking after 15 years and that too for a group of celebrity guests at his house in Andheri West, Mumbai.

The occasion is a reality show, called Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki. The programme would be aired by a popular channel from January 21.

“I am a part of the reality show and I will be very happy to host the guests in my house. The last time I had cooked was around 15 years ago. I am happy to try my hand in cooking once again. I cannot say much about the show right now. But I can tell you one thing —I will cook chawal, daal and mashed potato — a complete Bihari dish. I am also trying to learn some more dishes for my guests,” Manoj told The Telegraph on Sunday.

The popular Bhojpuri actor in his group will have model and television actor Nigaar Khan, VJ Andy, Ragini Khanna of Sasuraal Genda Phool fame and Sanaya Irani of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Du as his partners.

Preferring anonymity, one of the participants of the show told The Telegraph: “The name of the show, Welcome — Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki, makes it clear that it would be full of excitement. We are going to rock the show. It must be fun to cook food and play host to the guests.”

The participant added that popular actor Ram Kapoor would host the show. “He is a fine actor and an excellent anchor. He knows very well how to deal with the participants.”

Asked about the format of the show, the participant said: “There are eight groups of five people each. A group will visit each other’s houses. The format will be like this — four persons will visit the house of their fifth partner. However, the people who are visiting the house of their partner will not be aware that whose house they will be visiting. It would be kept secret.”

On the task in the show, the participant further said: “These four guests will make a day’s visit and the host has to treat them nicely with home-made food. There will not be any helper, while the host cannot order food from outside, except sweets.”

The participant added: “The host has to cook food on his or her own and serve the stuff to the guests. The points will be given on the kind of treatment the host will offer to the guests. There would be a lot of fun inside the houses of the hosts.”

The show will be telecast at 10pm and there would be altogether 40 episodes. During each episode, the participants will have to prove themselves a good host.

Though the show will start on Monday, it would be telecast every weekend.

On the names of the celebrities, the participant said: “As of now, I know the name of Binddu Popular. He is very much a part of the show. There will be altogether 40 participants, who would try to prove their culinary skill on the small screen.”

The participant added: “The most important part of the should would be that the episodes will be shot in the houses of the hosts. It means several closed-circuit television cameras will be installed in their houses.”
