Panchayats priority: CM

Jamshedpur, Jan. 1: Development of panchayats will top the priority list of the state government in 2013.

Addressing a press conference at the local Circuit House here today, chief minister Arjun Munda said that his government would make every effort to bring in all round development of panchayats.

“The policies will be made keeping in view the development of panchayats, which will be the focus this year. We want to see the panchayats prosper and become an exporter,” he commented.

Greeting the people of the state on New Year, Munda said several decisions taken by his government during the past two years had given Jharkhand the direction to achieve all round development despite several hurdles.

He also stressed on the need of proper utilisation of human resources and participation of people in the development process.

Munda went on to say that emphasis would be given to register growth in all sectors including agriculture, education, health, sanitation and infrastructure.

The chief minister parried questions regarding the possibility of any change of guard due to the controversial 28 month power sharing deal with coalition partner JMM.

Munda simply commented, “This is not the occasion to discuss the issue.” He later continued to talk in length about development aspects of the state.

He also refused to comment on the sorry condition of the National Highway-33 near Jamshedpur. Referring to a query in this regard Munda said things are moving in the right direction and asked the newsmen who raised the question to just “wait and watch.”

Munda’s well-wishers flocked at the Circuit House since early morning to wish him on the New Year.
