Priyana, Bhumika in quarter-finals

Guwahati, Dec. 25: Top seed Priyana Kalita today booked quarter-final berths in both under-14 and under-18 girls’ singles in the ongoing Royal Global School 15th India Club Open All Assam Tennis Championship at the India Club courts here.

In the single setter pre-quarterfinals played today, Kalita blanked out Jagriti Borah 6-0 in the under-14 event and tamed Gunjyal Gauri 6-0 in the under-18 event.

Sanshita Vasava, Raina Zaffer, Eva R. Sah, Bhumika Gupta, Debangana Borkotoky, Natasha Baruah and Nazia Ahmed have joined Kalita in the under-14 round of eight.

Vasava prevailed over Anoswita Nath 6-2, Zaffer defeated Tanaya Kashyap 6-2, Sah humbled Deepshikha 6-1, Gupta got the better of Gunjyal Gauri 6-4, Borkotoky blanked Ishika Chakma 6-0, Baruah beat Annie Theosen 6-1 and Ahmed outplayed Harshita Nahata 6-2 in the pre-quarters encounters today.

In the round of 16, Gupta tamed Aparupa Mahanta 6-1, Hazarika defeated Tanaya Kashyap 6-3, Sah got the better of Pratiksha Sarma 6-4, Phukan sailed past Bhairavi D. Bharali 6-1, Begum sweated past Nazia Ahmed 6-5 (7-2), Bora blanked out Shivangi R. Baruah 6-0 and Saharia tamed Barbi Das 6-0.
