Dav is under no pressure

Doha: A dominant India humiliated minnows Oman 11-0 to register their third consecutive win in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament on Sunday.
For the defending champions, SV Sunil, Dharamvir Singh, VR Raghunath and Rupinder Pal Singh scored a brace each, while Akashdeep Singh, Harbir Singh and Danish Mujtaba were the other scorers.

Neymar next?

London: Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain flew to Brazil last week for talks to sign Neymar.
Begiristain spent two days in South America to open discussions to buy the 20yearold striker at the end of the season, which would be a bold shake-up to their strikeforce and raise further question marks over the future of Mario Balotelli.

Messi scores

Madrid: Unbeaten La Liga leaders Barcelona ended 2012 on a high when Lionel Messi struck his 91st goal of the year in a 3-1 win at Real Valladolid while their arch-rivals Real Madrid slumped to a 2-3 defeat at Malaga.
It was the perfect tonic for Barca following the news that coach Tito Vilanova had to have throat surgery last Thursday.

Poor day

New Delhi: In a poor day for hosts India, Asian champion Parmarjan Negi lost to former Russian Champion Grandmaster Evgeny Alekseev, while Krishnan Sasikiran suffered defeat at the hands of Ukrainian Anton Korobov, in the third round of the AICF-AAI Chess Cup, here on Sunday.

Kapur wins

Noida: Shiv Kapur ended a seven-year title drought with a masterly seven-under 65 in the final round to win the inaugural Shubhkamna Champions Tournament, an event hosted by Jeev Milkha Singh.
Kapur, whose last win came in 2005 at the Volvo Masters of Asia, rounded off a string of top-5 and top-10 finishes on Asian Tour with a win by three strokes over his old friend Daniel Chopra.

Darren case

Brisbane: Former Australia batsman Darren Lehmann has been charged under Cricket Australia’s code of behaviour for questioning the legitimacy of the bowling action of West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels.
Lehmann, who coaches Brisbane Heat in the Twenty20 Big Bash League, called for an examination of Samuels’ action after a match against Melbourne Renegades, on Saturday.

Patel contract

Calcutta: The ECB Sunday announced that Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13.
Patel has played a total of three T20 matches and three Tests for England in the current contract period to earn his increment contract.
