2 arrested for family killing

Jorhat, Dec. 20: Sarupathar police today arrested two persons, Jiswa Dhan and Khalkho Tuti, for their alleged involvement in the killing of three persons of a family at a village in Golaghat district yesterday.

The two have been booked under Sections 302 and 435 IPC.

The police said there were more persons involved in the incident and more arrests would be made soon.

“The incident is a result of personal enmity between Jimmy Brown Borgohain and a few villagers. Investigation is on,” an officer at Sarupathar police station said.

Assailants had killed and burnt down Jimmy, his wife and 11-year-old daughter at Borbali Bebhejia village on Tuesday night.

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, according to his press adviser Bharat Chandra Narah, has assured a high-level inquiry into the killings.

“Already a magisterial inquiry has been ordered and two persons arrested,” Narah said in Guwahati.
