Special weekly train to Mumbai

Go ahead, pack your bags for your winter vacation.

South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to run a special weekly superfast train between Santragachi (near Calcutta) and Mumbai via Tatanagar and launch extra coaches in many long-distance mail and express trains.

Officials at Garden Reach, SER headquarters in Calcutta, said the superfast service between Santragachi and Mumbai will run from Tuesday, December 11.

Every Tuesday, the train will leave Mumbai (LTT) at 11.25 am, reach Tatanagar on Wednesday at 3.15pm and Santragachi four hours later at 7.15 pm.

Similarly, the train from Santragachi will leave every Sunday at 4.05pm, reach Tatanagar at 8pm and Mumbai at 11.45pm the next day.

Passengers can avail this special weekly train till January 3. Depending on the rush, the service may be extended.

On extra coaches, the SER circular issued on Monday listed Tatanagar-Rourkela-Alappuzha Link Express (18189 /18190), Tatanagar-Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express (18103/18104), 12889/12890 Tatanagar-Yesvantpur Express (12889/12890), Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express (18101 /18102) and Tatanagar-Chapra Express (18181/18182).

Between December 11 and January 2, Tatanagar-Chapra Express will be extended to Katihar in Bihar.

An extra ticket booking counter will also start functioning after December 15.

The demand for tickets for almost all trains to New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai is high.
