Garo Hills book semis berth

Shillong, Nov 27: Garo Hills topped the Group B tally, registering their second straight victory in the group league on the Meghalaya under-25 inter-district cricket tournament, organised by Meghalaya Cricket Association at Polo Ground here today.

Garo Hills today defeated Ri-Bhoi by 72 runs to top the group table with four points and virtually book a berth for the semi-finals.

Opting to bat, Garo Hills had a shaky start but managed to amass a competitive total of 140 runs losing seven wickets in the stipulated 35 overs. In reply, Ri-Bhoi were out for a paltry total of 68 runs in 19 overs.

Arfino Chiangli contributed a 66-run knock for Garo Hills while A.K. Yadav and Rohit Jha of Ri-Bhoi picked up two wickets each. Aviral Pandey topscored for Ri-Bhoi with 23 runs. Kilko Marak and Ianco Shira of Garo Hills claimed four and three wickets respectively.
