Prime News, DDY365 triumph

Guwahati, Nov. 25: DY365, Prime News and Sentinel registered thumping victories in the football tournament for the Harendra Nath Baruah Trophy in the 4th North East Media Sports Festival at SAI playground here today.

DY365 drubbed Niyamiya Barta 8-0, Prime News blanked UB Photos 7-0 while Sentinel thrashed NE TV by 7-0 goals.

In the other matches, Janasadharan defeated Assam Sports Journalists Association 4-0, Sakal Bela edged past Doordarshan 4-3 via tie-breaker, Seven Sisters Post beat DD News 4-0, Photojournalists defeated Ajir Dainik Batori 2-0 while Gana Adhikar got the better of Imphal Press Club 2-0.

Yesterday, Imphal Press Club won both the badminton and table tennis events. Ibobi Singh clinched double crown in the table tennis event, while Bikramjit Singh won double crowns in the badminton event.

S. Soniya of Imphal PC bagged the title in womenís table tennis. Diganta Saharia of Ajir Dainik Batori emerged champion in the chess event at the GTC auditorium yesterday.

Karate: A 13-member executive committee of the Greater Guwahati Karate-Do Association was constituted with Sharmila Deka as president and Binod Lal Das as general secretary, at the associationís annual general meeting here yesterday.

Ankurjyoti cricket: The 21st Ankurjyoti inter-club cricket challenge tournament for the Ratan Lal Singhania Trophy is being organised by Ankurjyoti Club from December 5 to 20 at Judges Field. The 3rd inter-institution under-14 cricket tournament for the Ashwini Rajbonshi Trophy will be held simultaneously at Latasil playground from December 5.

Chess: Ayushraj Sarma of Cynthia Loboís Preparatory School, Pranit Malhotra of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti and Hrishikesh Deka of Army Public School won the championís titles in the under-7, under-11 and under-15 categories respectively in the P.C. Borooah under-7, under-11 and under-15 selection chess 2012 here today.
