PLFI kills 2 in Ranchi

Ranchi, Nov. 23: Two persons were shot dead by PLFI rebels at Hulsu, 70km from the district headquarters in Lapung police station area of Ranchi, early this morning.

Krishna Sahu, 35, and Arun Sahu, 20, both marginal farmers, were whisked away by six men dressed in camouflage who had come on bikes around 5.30am. They were killed a kilometre from the village.

Senior superintendent of police Saket Kumar Singh said, “The group of extremists which killed the duo was led by one Amrit Horo. The reason behind the killings appears to be enmity or some dispute over levy.”

A local resident said: “Krishna was in a paddy field when the rebels carried him away in the presence of his family. The rebels claimed to be policemen and wanted Krishna’s help to identify a criminal. Arun was taken away when he was returning home. There were three rebels on each motorbike.”

Rebel held

A Maoist area commander, Mukhlal Yadav, was arrested in Garhwa last night. Garhwa SP Michael Raj said a .315 bore rifle, 1,540 live cartridges and 108 chargers were also recovered.
