Expo boost for artisans

Kokrajhar, Nov. 21: The 21-day-long fourth National Handloom Expo began at Kokrajhar Rash Mela field today.

The expo is being organised by the Bodoland Regional Apex Weavers and Artisans Cooperative Federation Ltd in collaboration with the development commissioner, handloom, ministry of textiles, government of India.

Under market promotion programme for handloom sponsored by the Centre, the expo aims to make local weavers aware of various programmes and facilitate consumers to purchase genuine handloom fabrics woven by local artisans.

A total of 45 teams from the Bodo belt and Haryana, Rajasthan, Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh are participating in the expo.
