Rio kicks off science meet

Kohima, Nov. 19: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the 15th regional meeting of Northeast state science and technology councils and departments at hotel Japfü here.

Rio said science had made a huge impact on our everyday lives and influenced everything from the way we communicate to the way the government functions.

He said the Nagaland science and technology council was already making its presence felt by applying technology in building up capacity for the development. The department has carried out a number of activities and projects to promote science and technology in the state, including entrepreneurship development programmes, research and development projects on natural resources and its utilisation and biotechnology.

Nagaland additional chief secretary and commissioner Banuo Z. Jamir chaired the programme. Deo Nukhu, adviser to the science and technology department, delivered the welcome address. The keynote address was given by T. Ramasami, Union secretary, science and technolgy.
