Four from Assam in main draw

Guwahati, Nov. 18: Indian boys Deepak Vishakarma, Minghki Talom, Mahendru Tanishq and Rohin Gajree today qualified for the main round of the ITF World Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament for under-18 boys and girls’ at All Assam Tennis Association complex in Chachal here from tomorrow.

In the all-Indian final round of the qualifiers, Vishakarma defeated Udayan Bhaskar, Talom eased past Rishabh Dahiya, Tanishq beat Alok Aradhya and Gajree got the better of Anutej Reddy.

Amlanjyoti Baruah of India, from Assam, got a wild card entry in the main draw of the boys’ singles event.

Three Assam girls Priyana Kalita , Suranjeta Saikia and Protiksha Sarma got direct entry in the main draw of the girls’ event.

CBSE soccer: South Point School will host the CBSE East Zone Cluster I football championship at the Sports Authority of India ground here from November 20 to 24.

U-14 cricket: Ulubari High School and South Point School today made it to the semi-finals of the 7th All Assam Parijat Mazumdar and Rooby Group inter-school under-14 cricket tournament at Latasil ground here.
