Modern set up final clash

Guwahati, Nov. 15: Modern English School today inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Fairyland High School to set up a final clash with Delhi Public School tomorrow in the 3rd Sitaram Agarwala under-17 inter-school cricket tournament, organised by Bud Cricket Club at Judges Field here.

In the last group league match today, Fairyland elected to bat and were all out for 124 in 34 overs. Modern School, in reply, reached 126 for five in 16 overs.

Subham Mandal of Modern School, who earlier scalped three wickets for 18 runs, remained unbeaten on 41 (4x9) to be eventually named Man of the Match.

Aadesh Chakraborty topscored for the side with 44 (4x8) and Bikash Kaman chipped in with 16.

Earlier, Atul Kumar Singh topscored for Fairyland with 35 (4x2) and Sonu Shakwa remained unbeaten on 14. Mrinmoy Baishya of Modern notched up three wickets for 15 runs and Bikash Terang claimed two for 25.

E-zone team: Assam wicketkeeper-batsman Wasiqur Rahman and spinner Roshan Alam have been named in the East Zone under-19 team, announced today for the Vinoo Mankad limited overs tournament to be played in Chennai from Tuesday.
