Bokaro, Oct. 6: A team of eight officers from Sector IV, Sector VI and Bokaro city police station today busted a chain-snatching gang and arrested three of its members. Two countrymade pistols, four cartridges of 3.15 bore and one countrymade bomb were recovered from them.

All residents of Bokaro steel city and Chas township, the trio have been identified as kingpin Mohammad Imanul Ansari (27), Mohammad Furkan Ansari (26) and Mohammad Mahfooz Ansari (25). The gang had been on a roll for the last two weeks, snatching six gold chains.

Addressing a news meet, Bokaro city police station inspector Naresh Sahay said: “The officers nabbed the trio from near BRL office crossing at Sector IV around 2am.”

He added that after looting the items, they sold them to different jewellers at throwaway prices. The trio have been forwarded to Chas jail.

Arrested in connection with several snatching cases a year ago, kingpin Mohammad Imanul Ansari has been released three weeks back. Once out of jail, Ansari formed a new group.
