Boat gang abducts trader

Dumka, Oct. 4: Six armed men came in a boat and kidnapped a businessman from the gates of his rice mill on the banks of the Ganga in Rajmahal last night in a daring raid police believe is the handiwork of the P.K. Mandal gang.

According to police sources, the kidnappers had sent word on a ransom demand for the safe release of Rajmahal-based Sanjay Kumar Bhuwania (38) who was picked up from the front of the main gate of the mill at Naughara around 9.30pm. But they were not sure of he amount of money they had sought.

His staff, who were witness to the abduction from a distant, pleaded helplessness as the whole operation was wrapped up in no time. They said Bhuwania was taken towards the Diara area known to be a stronghold of the Mandal gang that also operates in Katihar, Bhagalpur in Bihar and Malda in Bengal.
