15 injured in truck collision

At least 15 persons, including an infant, were injured when two trucks collided at Giridih-Tundi Road around 30km from Dhanbad district headquarters on Sunday at 11.45am, but prompt rescue operations by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Kumar helped them to get hospitalised fast.

Eyewitnesses said the accident took place when more than 20 villagers on board a goods carrier truck were going to Tundi from Govindpur. It collided with another truck at Sangramdih. No one save the driver who fled was aboard the second truck.

MP Kumar, on his way to Giridih, heard screams of people trapped in one truck. I and my guards helped the injured out of the truck. My guards stopped a van and requested the driver to take the injured to Patliputra Medical College and Hospital, the MP, who took three persons in his own car, told The Telegraph.
