Seminar to honour Olympians

Imphal, Sept. 13: The Manipur Olympic Association will hold a three-day seminar on the development of sports in the northeastern states at MFDC auditorium, Imphal, from Saturday.

Olympians from the Northeast will also be felicitated.

The NEC Chairman Sports Award for excellence in the international and national arenas will also be presented on the opening day, by DoNER minister Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Altogether 250 players who bagged medals for Manipur in the National Games in Jharkhand will be provided cash incentives.

Players who bagged gold will be given Rs 3 lakh, winners Rs 2 lakh and bronze medalists Rs 1 lakh.

Delegates from Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland and Delhi will speak on various disciplines.

Manipur chief minister O. Ibobi Singh will formally inaugurate the seminar on Saturday evening.

Imphal West league: The Imphal West District Football Association will hold its 2nd Division and 3rd Division Football League Tournament at YWC Malom ground from Sunday onwards.

Selection: The Manipur Hockey will hold a trial-cum-selection from September 17 to October 15 at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium for the 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys and Girls East Zone National Championship to be held in Bihar from October 16-21.

Open trial: The Manipur Cycling Association will hold an open trial on September 16 to select cyclists for the 17th National Road Cycling Championship to be held in Bihar from October 17-20.
