Manipur cops triumph 2-1

Imphal, Sept. 10: Manipur Police Sports Club defeated North Eastern Reorganising Cultural Association by 2-1 goals in the 7th Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung.

North Eastern team opened its account as N. Sushil Singh hit home in the 72nd minute. Manipur Police came back with the equaliser in the 77th minute as L. Ibothoi Singh found the net.

Nilakumar Singh ushered in the winning goal during injury time for the victory.

National hockey: Manipur thrashed Arunachal Pradesh 6-2 in the 64th National Hockey Tournament (menís) 2012 for the Northeast at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium.

P. Adeva hit home the opening goal for Manipur in the 12th minute but the next minute, S. Boynao drew parity, as he converted a penalty corner in the 13th minute.

Arunachal Pradesh again got the lead with N. Ruhikanta Singh in the 42nd minute from a field goal but Th. Birjit Singh hammered home the equaliser in the 45th minute for Manipur and consolidated with another goal in the 51st minute.

P. Priyokumar Singh in the 59th minute and P. Jupiter in the 64th minute scored for Manipur, ensuring the 6-2 victory today.

Handball: Manipur Police Sports Club claimed double titles winning the 32nd Senior Men & Womenís State-Level Handball Tournament at Citizen Club ground in Imphal East.
