Bandh call

Shillong, Sept. 4: The Khasi Students Union (KSU), which is part of North East Studentsí Organisation (NESO), has appealed to the people of the state to support the 12-hour bandh from 5am on Thursday.

The bandh has been called to protest against the exodus of students from the southern states. The KSU said the bandh would be effective throughout the Northeast except Assam.

The KSU said the exodus was an offshoot of the Assam violence and therefore people should support it. The governments of the northeastern states should implement laws to curb influx, it added.
