Imphal East boxers pack a punch

Imphal, July 15: Four Imphal East boxers punched their way to the final in the State-Level Boxing Tournament 2012 held at Khuman Lampak boxing ring.

In the sub-junior menís semi-final, Kh. Rajesh Singh of Imphal East boxed out W. Momocha Singh of National Sports Academy Imphal in the C-38kg weight category.

H. Bonel Singh beat Ph. Brighter Singh of Bishnupur in the C-40kg.

Bishnupur boxer P. Bikash overcame Ng. Rakesh Singh of Churachandpur in C-38kg.

The National Sports Academy Imphal also booked two final berths in the sub-junior menís category with L. Thoithoiba Singh outpunching Ch. Rozer Singh of Imphal East in the B-54kg event and Ng. Biswas of National Sports Academy Imphal beat P. Jamson Singh of Bishnupur in A-50kg category.

M. Anandajit Singh of Thoubal was awarded a walkover against T. Menao Meitei of National Sports Academy in the B-52kg event.

P. Arjun of Bishnupur and L. Sayananada of Thoubal in the B-54kg and A-48kg categories also entered the final.

In the womenís sub-junior category, W. Ranjita Devi of Bishnupur beat Kh. Nanao of Imphal East in D-32kg.

Th. Eliza of Thoubal beat M. Preti of Imphal East in D-36kg, Kh. Bidyarani of Imphal West beat N. Bidyapati of Churachandpur in D-36kg, Th. Yaisana Chanu of Thoubal outpunched N. Jerina of Imphal West in B-44kg to walk into the final.

Imphal East boxers Ng. Nuri in 46kg and Kh. Bidya in the B-48kg category also registered victories en route to the final.

Programme: The All Manipur Football Association deputed K. Momocha Singh and L. Chingam Khuman as coaches for the Football Development Programme for the U-12 and U-14 boys and girls to be held at Tamenglong district from July 17 onwards.
